Connected Services
About Connected Services
Connected Services are installed onto the workstation.
The purpose of Connected Services is:
- To deliver important documentation and communication directly to the workstation of the Operator.
- To display Own Memo’s, as a pop-up, on the desktop of the Operator.
- To collect pre-defined information from the workstation during the Start of Period procedure. This will enable Sage to compare, e.g. the modules that you are licenced for on the workstation to the details on the Sage Database.
- To provide a means by which information can be written back to the workstation, e.g. the delivery of the Annual Renewal Code.
Installation of Sage Connected Services
Once the software has been installed you will notice Sage Connected Services listed under the Control Panel - All Programs.
You will also have a Sage Connected Notifications option, once you restart your PC after installation.
Information will automatically be transferred to the Sage Server every four hours.
Once data has been transferred, the database file will clear.
If no connection is found, the data will be saved until it can be written to the Sage Server, at which point the file will clear.
See Reinstall Connected Services for more information.
Sage Connected Icon
There will be a Sage Connected icon visible in the Tray Icons (i.e. Hidden Icons) on the Windows Taskbar.
Right-click on the Sage Connected icon to access the following items:
- Reminders,
- Netcash Services,
- News,
- Options,
- Disable, and
- Exit.

This will list the Own Memos entered on the Employee Memo Screens that correspond to the current computer date.
Additional non-payroll reminders can be added from here. When the memo becomes active, a pop-up reminder will be displayed, even if the System is not running.
The Memo information will be saved to the database on the workstation where the memo was loaded and WILL NOT download to the Sage Server.
The default setting for the reminder is every four hours, but you may amend this.

This tracks the Verification and Validation process of Employee Account Numbers and ID Numbers.
See Netcash for more information on this feature.

This will list all Newsfeeds from Sage , e.g. Newsflashes.
The default filter can be amended to receive newsfeeds from other Sage affiliated companies e.g. Pastel Accounting.

The settings set up under Options can be customised to suit individual preferences.

When Disable is selected, information will still be written to the database, but nothing will be written to the Sage Server.

Exit will only close the Sage Connected Service for the current session.
Nothing will be written to the database.
Once the PC is restarted, the Sage Connected Service will be active again.
Renewal Code
A Renewal Code will automatically be generated once your Annual Licence Fee has been paid.
A mail will be sent to you, with instructions to go to the Renewal Screen to update the new code.
The <Renewal> button is found on the Initial Entry Screen.
A blue message will be displayed at the bottom of the Renewal Screen, instructing you to click on <Continue> to activate the new Renewal Code that will already be displayed on this screen.
